Knowledge modelling PDF Print E-mail

To benefit optimally from its knowledge capital, a company has to make use of all potential knowledge sources, both inside and outside the organisation. These sources include professional experts, enterprise data repositories, reports, web resources etc. Moreover, the underlying knowledge has to be maintained as employees come and go. It has to be embedded in organisational activities and systems.

Making knowledge explicit is a core competence of the Information Management group. We use specialized techniques and tools to create knowledge models and express them in advanced semantic networks. Such techniques are based on Semantic Web technology. The created models can be implemented in specific software applications, be used as supporting knowledge in for example searching large repositories (such as the Internet), or be applied to enhance human communication. In the menu on the left hand side, a selection of recent projects can be found.

The video below (courtesy of Prof. Wesch, Kansas University) presents a short overview of the recent developments and possibilities of Semantic Web technology. We apply such techniques for knowledge modelling in the agrifood sector.
